Though our readers may have already noticed our new logo (it’s hard to miss), there are probably a few heads being scratched, so I’ll take this opportunity to explain the new logo. First, let’s take a look at its inspiration (from the New York Times):

It’s picture of “his Steveness” introducing the iPod touch during his keynote on 5th of September, 2007. While Steve was presenting in San Francisco, I was sitting at home about 40 miles south, reading continuous updates posted by livebloggers. As soon as I read news of the new device, I registered hacktheipodtouch.com and ipodtouchfans.com, at 2007-09-05 11:37:30 to be exact. Anyways, you might be asking what this has to do with our new logo.

Fair enough. Well, the idea is that I think that the unveiling of the iPod touch was an implicit invitation for all of us to start trying to figure out a way to modify our iPods, especially given the fact that the hardware and software seemed so similar to the iPhone, which had already been jailbroken at the time. At that moment, I took the invitation and made my contribution to what would become a vibrant community by setting up this blog and the iPod touch Fans forum (which is now approaching the milestone of 1,000,000 posts). This new logo tries to capture that moment when each one of us took the challenge, each of us in his or her own way.
