Apple has recently updated the App Store application on the iPod touch and iPhone to add sub-categories inside categories. For example, you can choose the Games category and from there you have a choice of sub-categories including action, adventure and arcade.

This is a great feature that many people have been waiting for. Sub-categories will eliminate the need to scroll and scroll through the selection of applications in the App Store, at least for the mean time. At the pace the App Store is currently headed (it’s already hit 10,000) I wouldn’t be surprised if there was sub-sub-categories added.
