I suspected it was just me that had this problem, but it turns out that Geolej of iPTF has had the same problem too..
The problem arrises when you look carefully around the front bezel of your iPod – At the right angle, you can see light shining through the gaps. At first, I thought this might happen on all of them, but was disappointed when I asked 5 people and the response was “no, mine is perfect.”
This picture supplied by Geolej, shows the basic areas affected. It appears that the gaps for him are exactly the same for me (Except I had a large one on the top right hand side)- Which leads me to think that it’s a problem Apple have mass-produced.
If you have this problem, your best bet is to get it replaced ASAP. I sent mine off 4 days ago, and it will come be delivered between 22nd and 24th (apparently) so it’s over a week to wait.
Also, if you’ve suffered the same problem, leave a comment here so we know how serious the matter is.
Mine leaks too… I found the problem when i first get this gadget but i thought it will be just okay. I think i need to go to the service center coming monday. I have another problem as well, it shut down quite often…

yea mine too really annoying watching video at night. Gonna take it back this weekend it’s a shame as it’s really good tho wifi is troublesome. Not as reliable and stable as my friends old touch 1g

Also it has a dust particle in the screen that I can’t stop looking at it when am using it

I just noticed it on mine as well. The edge is kind of bendy too, to the effct of closing the gaps if I push hard enough. I’m definetly calling apple tommorow!

I called Apple, and told them I and the same problem. They sent me a replacement box. (all prepaid) So I put my ipod in the box and sent it back to them. Today I received my new product. A BRAND NEW ipod touch. I was so happy because mine had a bunch of scratches on it. Only the ipod was in the replacement box, no headhones, usb cable, or instructions. If you have this problem I would recommend sending it to apple, because they took care of me.

Bizzar! I had the same problem as Adam but my screen was off centered and they sent my old one back to me saying I had no problems with it. I had to talk to the sales department to get a new one. The sent me a brand new one and took the broken one back. The whole process took about two weeks );

I have a 2g and mine doesn’t have this problem…
Nor does mine die very quickly.
I guess I’m lucky.

mine has light leak on left as well. I had an iphone 3g and that leaked light worse than ipod touch 2g. a temporary fix was to get a mouse pad as a grip and to push the entire screen to the left. this would get rid of light leak for a day or two but will come back later. this is a very common issue among ipod touch 2g/ iphone 3g users.

i sent my first ipod touch 2nd gen back to apple retail store because there are obvious light [whitish] stain at the upper and lower part of the screen.
they replaced it. thanks.
but the replaced ipod is now leaking light at the right part between the glass and the metal casing.
