At the ‘Let’s Rock‘ Conference, Apple also announced the new iTunes 8. The big feature is ‘Genius’. To use Genuis you select a song and click on the Genuis button. What Genuis does is creates a playlist of songs that you have that go well with that song. For example, you pick a song that you really like and you’d like to hear more songs like that so you click Genius and it goes and creates a playlist for you to listen to. I have been using it quite often and I like it!

The other notable new features are:

  • HD TV Show. (Not available in Australia)
  • New visualizer. A visualizer makes an animation that goes with your music. The old iTunes visualizer wasn’t so good. I always liked the Xbox 360 one but that was until I downloaded a third party visualizer for iTunes called Magnetosphere. The new iTunes visualizer is from the developers of Magnetosphere but this one is even better. This is my favourite visualiser ever! Awesome!
  • New grid view. This is a great way to organise your music now. Instead of flicking through individual tracks, you go through the album artwork. You have to use it to understand it but it is really nice looking and works great too! This is my favourite way of organising and interacting with my music.

To get the new iTunes, go (here). Download it now, it’s free!
