On Tuesday, after the ‘Let’s Rock’ event, it was released for iPod Touch. On friday, it was released for iPhone. It’s finally here. The oficial list of fixes and improvements for 2.1 are:

  • Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls
  • Significantly better battery life for most users
  • Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes
  • Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts
  • Faster installation of 3rd party applications
  • Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications
  • Improved performance in text messaging
  • Faster loading and searching of contacts
  • Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display
  • Repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages
  • Option to wipe data after ten failed passcode attempts
  • Genius playlist creation
I’ve been using it for the last couple of days and I love it! I have had no more crashes, no more call drops, better reception, better battery life, better everything! I wish this had come out a few months earlier but oh well, it’s here and it’s great!
To get it, plug in your device and click update. It will cost iPod Touch users who haven’t already upgraded to 2.0 $9.99.
