Our reader Faslane reports:

TOTALY off topic, but I have an iTouch, got it yesterday, and the bluetooth adapter I have on my 5.5G video 80GB DOES work, so I CAN stream music from my iPod touch by plugging this accessory into the bottom port, my sony Xplod Car stereo that has bluetooth & works beautifully. The bluetooth adapter brand is a Scoche Bluetooth adapter for iPod. It is the black one that plugs directly into the iPod’s bottom port where the usb cable goes. so no more tethering through aux input with a wire.

Just thought I’d post this for everyone considering a iPod Touch. All I could find was a ebay link. there are others available from Jabra and other companies, but this is confirmed working with the new iPod touch 16GB. I went to UTC Mall in San Diego and they had a few in stock early.

C’mon jailbreak!!!

Several different models of Bluetooth iPod adapters exist, so if anyone has one and has tried it with their touch, please let us know about the results!

    Will this Bluetooth adapter just work for music, or will it allow use with an external (bluetooth) keyboard and mouse???

  2. El iPod Touch diseccionado en iPhoneros.com says:

    [...] Parece ser que no le han encontrado el chip bluetooth al iPod Touch – pero sí que se ha confirmado ya que algunos accesorios para añadir Bluetooth al iPod funcionan con el iPod Touch. [...]

    @Stuart:

    hmmm…hadn’t tried but I’d have to assume it’s just for music. I don’t have a BT keyboard or mouse, it might work on the iPhone that actually has BT built in, but I only have the touch, so cannot confirm.

    Also, I meant to let viewers know the Xplod Stereo in my Car has BT built in, but I’m sure if you have a kenwood or alpine etc. that has the add on BT “box” or receiver that you purchase as an accessory this SHOULD still work. Also, it works with my iHome Clock radio, and I do get sound through my Sonic Impact Video-55 but NOT video FYI

    These are the only gadgets I have for iPod, so 2.5 out of 3 isn’t bad. It’s nice to stream music to my car stereo without wires all over the place for sure, just keep that car charger on hand for both devices when on a road trip. And for the kids, it works with Video too!!! Surround sound movies in the car!!! yaaaayyyy NOT FOR THE DRIVER, keep your eyes on the road!!! LOL

    Cheers

    I have successfully used my Jabra A125s adapter with the iPod Touch and my Jabra BT620 headphones. I’ve been able to control the iPod thru the headset and don’t see any functionality that isn’t supported.

    It also works with the A120s thru the headphone jack.

    Well, if the Bluetooth devices work, I wonder if we can use a bluetooth adapter which can connect to a bluetooth headset. Then we can make quite a nice little IP phone. :) Anybody got any ideas about this? how to get a voice stream into Safari from a bluetooth or USB? I’m getting my ipod flash tomorrow :) yee hee….. can’t wait to see some great new apps and hacks. It’s quite distressing how apple has such a capable peice of hardware pinned down with software. I’m thinking what we need is an apache webserver and a post processor which runs on the ipod touch, that way we could conceivably use the web interface to achieve quite a bit of functionality.

    I couldn’t understand some parts of this article ooth on the touch? Sort of., but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.

    hey I’m looking for an iPod adapter as well, but am concerned that the adapter could come loose easily. I had that problem with the jabra A125 and it annoyed the hell out of me. Is the problem applicable with the scoche ones as well? I’m also still eagerly anticipating the new adapter by SL Audiolab
